Children participate in a range of exciting and well planned PE sessions as part of their school life, and enjoy learning about a healthy and active lifestyle. From Foundation Stage up to Key Stage One children are introduced to the fundamental skills of agility, balance and coordination and are given opportunities to practice these through a range of individual and team activities. As the children reach Key Stage Two they are invited to implement the skills they have learnt in game situations. They develop strategies for attacking and defending, and are often given responsibilities such as leading warm ups and cool downs. All children experience games, gymnastics, dance and athletics throughout the year and are able to use the all-weather pitch to ensure they have the space to explore different skills. Our Year Three children are also given the chance to develop their swimming through weekly swimming lessons.
At Goddard Park we ensure well planned and prepared PE sessions happen throughout the year groups. This ensures continuity and differentiation for the growing abilities of the children. We at Goddard Park have an extensive range of equipment and apparatus that is well maintained and kept up to date with recent developments in the curriculum.
Core values such as teamwork, communication, leadership skills and competition are encouraged at Goddard Park, and we regularly provide opportunities for our children to compete in inter-school competitions.
